Thameslink troubles continue

by awitherick on 6 December, 2009

Many of the residents in MArshalswick South Ward including myself, Cllr Allan Witherick, will be commuters or use the trains on a regular basis both to get to London and further afield.

Sadly most of us will have also been  hit by the delays, with rapid platform changes caused by the drivers dispute which has exposed the under-staffing.  However this has also been worsened by the apparent increase in break downs.

On Friday I tried to get to London on a fast train, only for it to be stopped and the train in front of us get shunted back so that their passengers could get on to our train.

Tonight I decided to get the slow train to St Albans as the last time I had waited for the fast train it had been cancelled.  This time we got as far as Kentish Town before we were all turfed out to join a different train due to problems.  St Pancras to London- over one hour…

It’s no surprise that both Sandy Walkington, our Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesman has raised the issue and that Liberal Democrat run St Albans City & District Council passed a motion criticising the current situation where FCC is actually SAVING money by running a reduced service.

We will continue to fight on this issue- and in the mean time which you a safe journey!
