Porters Wood and Valley Road Resurfacing

by awitherick on 26 December, 2010

Optimistically (ie it’s weather dependent!), Herts Highways hope to do resurfacing work between the 10th and 19th January (during work days, 8pm through to 6am) with a full road closure in place each time.
It’s one of the areas that your local Liberal Democrats have been campaigning on for some time, so let’s hope Herts Highways get it right!

Details as below:

The purpose of this bulletin is to notify you of the works which are due to commence on Valley Road and Porters Wood, the work forms part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the road network in Hertfordshire and will involve repairing the failing carriageway and adjusting and replacing existing ironwork.

We will be working from Monday 10th January to Wednesday 19th January (Mon-Fri), weather dependant. Both roads will be closed to ensure the safety of road users and our workforce. When working on Porters Wood, Valley Road shall remain open. To minimise inconvenience to road users, residents and businesses alike, we have agreed with the police to carry out these works from 20.00hrs – 06:00hrs.

The works will be carried out in 2 phases:

Phase 1: Porters Wood. These works are expected to last 4 nights and will commence on Monday 10th January.
During this phase Valley Road will remain open but there will be no access to Porters Wood.

Phase 2: Valley Road (from Porters Wood to Beech Road). This phase of works is expected to last 4 nights and will commence on Friday 14th January. During this phase both Valley Road and Porters Wood will be closed. Further more all parking will be suspended during the working hours and we request that residents find alternative parking.

Please be aware that their will be delays during these works and we would appreciate your cooperation. The traffic management and working hours have been agreed with Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Police and St Albans Environmental Health. Any vehicle found obstructing the works will be removed by an approved Contractor.

Bus services may be affected by this road closure – details of any changes will be posted at your local bus stop.
Alternatively, you can visit www.intalink.org.uk – where you can find out further details by visiting the ‘News / Service Updates’ section, then clicking on ‘service disruptions’.

Hertfordshire Highways or their contractors will not approach you offering to carry out works to your property. Any cold calling of this nature by people claiming to represent us should be viewed with suspicion and caution. They will not have Hertfordshire Highways’ or the local council’s authority or approval.

We greatly appreciate your patience and co-operation during these essential works. Should you have any questions or queries, please contact James Dovey on 01707 356282 (Email: [email protected]) or Out of Hours on 0300 123 4047 or visit www.hertsdirect.org/highwaysfaults.
