People who are struggling to pay for counselling services in St Albans North will be able to turn to Relate for help, thanks to funding from their local county councillor.Cllr Allan Witherick (St Albans North) awarded Relate Central and Northern Hertfordshire £200 from his locality budget to fund counselling for vulnerable constituents. The charity, which specialises in relationship counselling but also provides support to individuals, families and young people, provides bursaries for people who cannot afford the full cost of counselling.Cllr Witherick said: “Counselling bring benefits in a huge variety of areas. Relate’s work reduces the breakdown of families, which can contribute to increased crime and anti-social behaviour.“Hopefully this grant will allow Relate to support people regardless of their disposable income, and ensure that counselling is accessible to all sections of the community.”
