Sometimes, with all the petty politics, it’s too easy to forget not how we got here (the needs of our electorate should never be far from our mind!) but also the people who made it possible.
Among those who should be honoured for this are those commemorated by our war memorials locally.
One of the motions put forward by the Liberal Democrats has highlighted how important this is, not just in terms of civic pride, but also what it represents. As a result some minor works will be undertaken to bring it back up to a decent standard.
In the end, it’s the right thing to do: “‘Lest we forget.”
