The few salt bins in St Albans are finally being refilled, however with the cold snap not so much a snap of the fingers as a sustained round of applause it may not last long.
We are also asking residents to be vigilant for theft of salt.  In a few cases people have been witnessed taking large amounts from the bins, and in some case emptying them!  This is incredibly dangerous- most are placed near areas which need the salt most, and is theft.  The salt is intended for the public highway (roads and pavements) and NOT for private driveways.
