Do you remember Andy Pandy?

It’s a question which some might be able to answer. Hertfordshire Community Meals, which manages the Meals on Wheels Service in St Albans City and District, as well as an over 60s lunch club from Monday to Friday at the Jubilee Centre in Catherine Street, is holding a Nostalgia morning there on Wednesday 16th February at 11am.

This is one of a series of additional activities which Herts Community Meals is arranging for those who attend the Jubilee Centre for lunch. Elanor Cowland from St Albans District Council’s Museums Service will bring along toys from past decades to show people, which will no doubt help stir happy childhood memories.

So, if you remember Andy Pandy, Matchbox toy cars and spinning tops, come along and meet others over a cup of coffee and stay for lunch. Bring your childhood photos to share too!

These free sessions are open to everyone over the age of 60. A two-course hot lunch is available for £3.80.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Sheila Burton, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Heritage, said: “In 2009, the Council established a joint venture with Herts Community Meals at the Jubilee Centre with the aim of turning it into a well-used community building. This nostalgia session and other future events will provide more activities for the elderly and encourage them to make friends.”

The Jubilee Centre was refurbished by Premier Foods as part of a community project in 2010 and is available for hire by individuals or community groups. Future plans for the centre include a Vintage Collectors Fair on 5th March 2011.
