This year for the first time there will be 2 events to choose from: the St Albans Pancake Race or the St Albans Flippin’ Walkers’ Race.

Both races are organised by St Albans City and District Council, will take place on Shrove Tuesday 8 March starting at noon outside the Town Hall.

The St Albans Pancake Race is designed for teams whose strength lies in their ability to repeatedly run very fast, stop suddenly, flip a pancake and set off again at a sprint.

The St Albans Flippin’ Walkers’ Race is to test the more subtle skills of being able to walk and toss a pancake continuously – good hand, eye and foot co-ordination will be key to winning.

Teams of four can chose to enter either race. Fancy dress or corporate branding is welcome, so get some publicity for your organisation, or just come along with friends for some fun.

Charles Baker Tourism and Regeneration Manager commented: “For a chance to win the prestigious frying pan award and have your team name engraved on it for all to see, make sure you enter now. All you need is a team name and four people.”

For further information please contact the Tourist and Information Centre by telephone: 01727 864511 or email: [email protected]

The deadline for registering your team is 4.30pm on Monday 7 March. You can pick up an entry form from the Tourist and Information Centre, Market Place St Albans or you can download a form from the Council’s website: www.stalbans.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/tourism-and-travel/.
