A series of talks to celebrate ‘International Women’s Month’ are being held at the Museum of St Albans on 16, 23 and 30 March, between 7.30pm and 9pm.
Liberal Democrat Cllr Sheila Burton, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Heritage commented: “The role of women in history is sometimes undersold. These three lectures give us a chance to look at ways in which women have contributed to the agenda. Come along and find out more.”
  • Striking a light: Wednesday 16 March
Local St Albans historian Dr Louise Raw and author of “Striking a Light: The Bryant and May Matchwomen and Their Place in History” will be the guest speaker. There will also be an opportunity to purchase her book with a 20 percent discount being given on the night of this talk and an opportunity to ask her to sign your copy.
  • Beyond Queen Victoria and Florence Nightingale: Wednesday 23 March

  • The Changing Female Form: Wednesday 30 March
